Editorial Standards & Research Methodology

NestSaver publishes guides to help Indian borrowers make better home loan decisions. Because these are financial topics that affect real money, we hold our content to a high standard of accuracy and transparency. This page explains exactly how our content is produced — and where its limits are.

Who writes this content

Articles are produced by the NestSaver Editorial Team using a research-assisted workflow: we draft against current, named sources (RBI circulars, Income Tax Act sections, published bank rate cards) and review every figure before publishing. We do not attribute articles to fictional named “experts.” When a qualified professional (a chartered accountant or RBI-registered advisor) reviews a piece, we name them explicitly and say so.

Our data sources

  • Interest & repo rates: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) monetary policy statements and the official RBI database.
  • Bank-specific rates: The published rate cards of SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Kotak, Axis and other lenders, as available at the time of writing.
  • Tax rules: The Income Tax Act (Sections 24b, 80C, 80EEA) and CBDT notifications.
  • Lending regulations: RBI guidelines on EBLR, LTV ratios, prepayment, and fair-practice codes.
  • Credit scoring: Published policies from CIBIL / TransUnion and other RBI-licensed bureaus.

How we calculate

EMI, interest, and prepayment figures use the standard reducing-balance EMI formula:

EMI = [P × R × (1+R)^N] / [(1+R)^N − 1], where P is principal, R is the monthly interest rate (annual ÷ 12), and N is the number of monthly instalments.

Worked examples state their assumptions inline (loan amount, rate, tenure). Where a number is a projection — for example, equity returns or future rate movements — we label it as illustrative. We never present projected returns as guaranteed.

Accuracy & corrections

Rates and rules change. We date every article with its last-updated date and revise pieces when the underlying facts move (for example, after an RBI policy decision). If you spot an error, email our team and we will correct it promptly.

What this content is — and is not

NestSaver provides educational information and free planning tools. It is not financial, tax, or legal advice, and we are not affiliated with any bank — we sit on the borrower’s side. Your individual situation matters: before acting on anything here, verify the current terms with your lender and, where relevant, consult a qualified advisor.

Independence

Our guidance is written to serve borrowers, not lenders. Where we link to bank products or earn referral revenue, that relationship never changes our recommendation — and we disclose it. Our mission is simple: help you close your home loan years earlier.
